Barloworld funds Grade 12 Science

Mindset has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Barloworld. To this end they have previously funded Grade 11-12 English and this content is now available on all the Mindset platforms.

In this vein of ongoing support we are pleased to advise that in 2007 Barloworld are now funding Grade 12 Science video content. This will enable Mindset to produce 14 lessons, 2 teacher guides as well as the development of the associated print notes.

The Head of CSI, Barloworld, Jennifer Smith, has the following to say about their commitment to Mindset,

“Higher grade pass rates in Maths and Science are the gateway to so many critical needed professional qualifications in South Africa.Dramatically improving our Maths and Science education must be a top educational priority if we are to achieve national development objectives such as community upliftment, economic growth and broadening the ownership base of the economy. Mindset Learn interventions are able to add value within the existing education system and Barloworld is proud to support them."

Mindset Network is a non-profit, South African organisation aimed at personal, social and economic development of all people in Africa. Mindset creates, sources and delivers on a mass scale quality educational resources through appropriate mediums to the:

• primary and secondary school community

• health community

• vocation and enterprise community

• under-developed and under-resourced communities where upliftment can be achieved through education

Mindset Network was informed by the lessons of many African and South African projects and aims to:

•	work holistically with regional and national government, corporates, the higher education sector and other NGOs to ensure a sustainable, systemic and long term solution
•	offer a holistic solution by: developing content providing and installing equipment providing training conducting research
•	develop innovative technology to meet the needs of the communities we aim to serve
•	offer a variety of solutions to ensure far-reaching access
•	develop multimedia content which is relevant to the local context
•	ensure the programme is reusable and scalable.
